HOW IT WORKS

Scores towards the Best Team Trophy standings are taken on total of entries and on a race-by-race basis from the top performers of each state across all competing events.

Each state/nation team will get maximum of 25 points with a minimum entry of 25 boats. Less then 25 entries will get a point total of boat(s) on their entry.

Top ten race finishes on each race will be translate into points: ten points for a first, nine for a second, all the way down to one point for a tenth place finish. If less than 10 competitors in the particular classes, the point will be breaks to the total of competitors for the 1st finisher and all the way down to one point for the last places. After each race is completed across all events, a state team combines all the scores up for their overall Best Team Trophy score for that race.

The scores are added up as the championship progresses with the Best Team Trophy going to the state/nation team with the highest number of points at the end of racing. With potential higher points up for grabs, the standings can alter rapidly from one race to another, making the battle for the Best Team Trophy one of the most exciting and keenly fought contests of the event.

Starting from this year 2014 the national MSA squad sailors will be representing their own state team (following as SUKMA rule)
